Want to be a film maker and learn about film and video making? Karimnagar film society gives you an opportunity. You can be a student or unemployed youth you can join in the three day introductory film making course to be organized from 13-15 February 2010 at Filmbhavan, Karimnagar.

Karimnagar film society popularly known as KAFISO in association with Film Telangana.com & Navtarngam.com is organizing maiden Telangana level Film making workshop. This will give you acquaintance with the film making, script writing and hands on experience about how to make a short film says Varala Anand, Festival Director of Karimnagar Workshop and film festival. This workshop is scheduled in commemoration with the ensuing FOURTH NATIONAL SHORT DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL to be held from13-16 February. The workshop will be held from 9am to 5pm and the festival screenings will be held from 6pm to 10pm in filmbhavan in all the festival dates. The festival committee short listed 61 films, all short and documentary films from the entries received from allover India ranging from Agartala, Mumbai, Trivendrum and Hyderabad.

Karimnagar Film Society

A national level JURY constituted by the kafiso and the jury will watch films in the festival dates and select films for the PALAPITTA AWARDS which carry cash prizes and mementos, in addition to kafiso awards Navatarangam a web magazine and federation of film societies of India will also give awards to the winners in different categories. A separate section of film screenings is will be there show casing local talent.

Summary: We love the fragrance of wet earth. We love to build doll houses with that earth. We love to decorate those houses just like mother does. We would plaster the houses with red earth just like she does. We would make clay carts and park them just like father did. We enjoyed walking along the narrow streams of rivulets, we would build nests for birds in those sands. We would pick up toads praying for rains and march around the village singing songs. Our childhood knew the fragrance of the earth. Ours was a childhood that brightened up the village. Our innocence… white like the kolam dotting our lanes. Our hearts … like the nests waiting for birds in the river sands. We played and sang gathering around. That was a childhood that knew fragrance of the earth.

Staff Reporter ; KARIMNAGAR: The Karimnagar Film Society, in collaboration with Discover Telangana, a USA-based non-profit organisation, will be organising ‘Film Telangana 2009’ a short film competition on Telangana history, culture, resources, people, Telangana movement and other local issues etc.
Disclosing this to newsmen, Karimnagar Film Society advisor and MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao said that they were organising the film competition to protect ancient history, culture and traditions of Telangana region.

Two categories
Film society president V. Anand said that the competitions would be held in two categories of short films under five minutes (minimum one minute to five minutes) and short films under 30 minutes ( minimum 10 minutes to 30 minutes). Only digital formats will be accepted — .AVI, .MPEG, .WMI, .MOV formats — which would be uploaded on the website (http://filmtelangana.com).

Cash prize
He said that prizes worth a total of Rs. 2 lakh would be given to the best short films on various topics. The first prizes include Rs. 50,000, second prize Rs. 25,000, special jury prize Rs. 25,000 and special student prize of Rs. 25,000 for both 5 minutes and 30 minutes films.

‘ఫిలిం తెలంగాణ -2009′ లఘు చి త్రాల పోటీలు

కరీంనగర్‌, జనవరి 17 (ఆన్‌లైన్‌): తెలంగాణకు చెందిన విభిన్న అంశాలపై నిర్మించిన షార్ట్‌ఫిలింలకు ‘ఫిలిం తెలంగాణ-2009′ పేర పోటీలు నిర్వహించనున్నట్లు కరీంనగర్‌ ఫిలిం సొసైటీ సలహాదారు, ఎంఎల్‌సీ నారదాసు లక్ష్మణ్‌రావు తెలిపారు. శనివారం కరీంనగర్‌లోని ప్రెస్‌ భవన్‌లో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన విలేకరుల సమావేశంలో ఆయన వివరాలు వెల్లడించారు.

ఈ పోటీల్లో రెండు కేటగిరీలు ఉంటాయని, మొదటి కేటగిరీలో ఒకటి నుంచి అయిదు నిమిషాల నిడివి గల చిత్రాలు, రెండవ కేటగిరీలో 10 నిమిషాల నుంచి 30 నిమిషాలలోపు నిడివి గల చిత్రాలు ఉంటాయన్నారు. అలాగే కళాశాల, విశ్వవిద్యాలయాల విద్యార్థులు నిర్మించే చిత్రాలు స్టూడెంట్‌ కేటగిరీగా పరిగణిస్తామన్నారు.

డిజిటల్‌ చిత్రాల రూపంలో సాగే ఈ పోటీల్లో పాల్గొనే వారు ఎంట్రీలను ఫిబ్రవరి 28 లోగా పంపించాలనీ, దర్శకుని పూర్తి వివరాలు, రెండు ఫొటోలు, రెండు డీవీడీలు రూ.500లు ఎంట్రీ ఫీజుతో కరీంనరగ్‌ ఫిలిం సొసైటీకి పంపాలన్నారు. సీనియర్‌ దర్శకులు న్యాయ నిర్ణేతలుగా వ్యవహరిస్తారని ఒక్కో క్యాటగిరీకి గ్రాండ్‌ ఫ్రె ౖజ్‌గా రూ.50వేలు, ద్వితీయ బహుమతిగా రూ.25వేలు, విద్యార్థులకు రూ.25 వేలు, జ్యూరీ ప్రత్యేక బహుమతుల కింద రూ.25వేలు అందజేస్తామన్నారు.

Stringpuppetry is called koyya bommalata, literally: ‘wooden doll’ . It is a very old tradition. Thirty to one hundred puppets are required for a performance based on the theme of the play. An episode from the Ramayana is performed. The musical instruments are a harmonium, a drum and cymbals.
